| (7/23) Augusta, GA - Northern Little League’s 11-12 all-stars erupted for 10 runs in the third inning
on their way to beating Belvedere (District 3) by a score of 15-0 in the state tournament. The victory improved
Northern’s record in pool play to 2-0. Northern sent 11 batters to the plate in the third inning before an out was recorded. Belvedere pitchers recorded 5 walks and 1 hit batsman during the inning and Northern placed 5 strategic hits to put the game out of reach. Matthew Kuhlenberg (1-for-1) and Cody Walker (1-for-2) each had 2 RBI doubles in the inning and Brady Hamilton (3-for-3) added 2 RBIs on a single. Kyle Carter (2-for-4) hit his fourth homerun of the tournament and Hamilton added a solo shot. Kyle Rovig pitched 3 innings for the win, giving up only one hit while striking out 6. The game was called after 4 innings due to the mercy run rule. Northern continues pool play Monday with an 8:00 PM game against Toccoa (District 7). The top two teams from each pool will meet this Thursday in the semi-final round with the championship game scheduled for Friday at 6:00 PM. |
