I'm sitting in the hotel, watching it continue to rain, and it's giving me some time to reflect on the win yesterday that made US Champions of the Northern Little League, man, what a day! It's still hard to believe, it seems like a dream, but, when I woke up this morning and picked up the Williamsport Sun-Gazette and read the headlines: "Just Peachy"....it started to sink it....US National Champions. The World is next. Go get 'em guys, you're the team that can get the job done. Good luck on the mound (and at the plate, too) Kyle, I wish you the best. J.T., Josh, Kyle R., Cody, Matthew H., Ryan, Matthew K., Patrick, Mason and Patrick: Yall are the best. Coach Randy and Coach Richard: Best of luck, you're dedication and devotion to this group is unsurpassed, yall are to be commended. I can't wait to get to the stadium tomorrow! Steve Stinson

Hi could someone please post a site where I can order a T shirt specifically for the Nothern LL team in Williamsport? I do not live in Columbus so I would need to have it shipped to me as well. I've already ordered a T shirt from Little League itsself, but it is not just for the Northern LL champs.
Thanks, and best of luck to the guys tomorrow night. This just means you guys get one more night of rest and that also means more time for Carter to rest that arm to throw the heat tomorrow. : )

I can not describe how happy I am to see another Ga team make it to Williamsport. You boys have done so good. This is the one dream all boys have when they play Little League baseball, and that is to make it to Williamsport. Out of the 1,000's of teams which started in district all star play only 16 make it to Williamsport. Now we are down to 2 teams. No matter what the outcome of today's game is KNOW that you are winner's. I just wish the parks would stop taking Little League out of them. Little League is a national past time and we have lost all of our little league programs here in Douglas co. For over 20 yr's I have been around Little League baseball. My Dad started out as a little league coach when I was 8. He then went on to become the Vice Pres. of the Bill Arp little league, then onto Pres., then onto Asst. DA for district 2 and then onto the DA for district 2 for many yr's. My youth was going to the ballpark 3-4 days a week. WAY TO GO BOYS!!

If Japan pitches the closer from last night, take the outside pitch to the opposite field and it will be a long day for them. You are the BEST TEAM IN AMERICA. No one can take that away.

Can anyone tell me if the players have been able to read all the encouraging comments on this site?

JB: A day's worth of comments usually adds up to about ten pages and I've been faxing them to Jimmy Lester in Williamsport. When he's able to get to the players and coaches, he passes them around. Most of the comments are too awesome for them to miss. I haven't gotten any feedback from PA but I know they were a big hit during the regionals. So the answer is YES.

Let me also add that that's why I remove some of the venting comments from the site. It's not that they're necessarily ugly or offensive but this is a forum for positive shout-outs and for passing messages to the players and coaches. I've greatly enjoyed reading them myself!

I am the father of an 11-year old player here in Washington. My son, Dylan, was born with one hand and pitches for the Marysville Firefighters. He also plays CF,2B and SS. He has made the 10 and 11 All-Star teams the past two years. On our summer team he went 12 innings without allowing a run and helped us to the title last weekend. He's a switch hitter.
Next season he will be practicing in an official Columbus Northern T-Shirt!! And I will be coaching in one. I'm pretty sure that we'll be the only two in Washington with such attire. When I ordered the shirts, Kathy Conine explained to me the reason Kyle Carter wears his hat at an angle.
I try to teach my son to respect baseball and have fun. We are having a tremendous amount of fun watching y'all. Good luck Saturday and Sunday! Thank you for the shirts!

Pitching (Cols)Posted 08/25/2006 @ 16:00:17
The two pitchers for Oregon cannot pitch on Saturday because each of them pitched more than 1 inning during the last game they played. Under Little League rules if a pitcher pitches more than 1 inning during a game they must sit out 1 game before pitching again.

Headed up to Williamsport Pa. as I speak. Can't wait to see Northern in action. Congratulation Northern Little League! Josh great game at the plate and on "D". The other teams will second-guess themselves on walking Kyle because Josh is automatic at the plate. Kyle Carter, great job on the mound and at the plate. In 1983, my father took my brothers and I to watch East Marietta National Little League win the Little League World Series. This year we will take my nephew to watch Northern Little League win it all in 2006.
In response to the "Big Northern LL Fan of Columbus, GA"
Oregan can not pitch Derek Keller and Devon Dejordan. They will have to throw Jace Fry. Which he is Oregan #1 pitcher.

Off to Williamsport for another exciting weekend of Baseball!! Before I hit the road I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this website and thank John Broom for all the work he puts into it! Our sons played together on the Rangers for several years and every season was at my fingertips from Game Summaries to Pictures of the team to our player individual stats. Thanks to John I have every game from every year my son played A ball captured forever. And now thanks to him I have this incredible All Star run to add with them. This is not only something we all enjoy now but something our sons will cherish when they are grown

To shutout a team that was 1 of 3 US teams left is incredible!!! That was a complete win with strong hitting, textbook bunting, and flawless fielding. This team showed up to win and you did. Take what your given. The majority of the pitching I have seen works curve balls away. Drive the ball the other way. It will be really fun to get into the other teams bullpen. It's seems like yesterday when we all were huddling around our PCs listening to web casts hoping to hear if these young men would make it to play on ESPN in St. Pete. That was four games ago and here they are today playing in the semis for a shot to play for the U.S. Championship. What a thrill ride this has been for so many! Players, coaches, fans, parents...the series starts today. I'm borrowing a quote from a manager of another LLWS team. "New day new game. Regardless of the mental and physical errors, the homeruns, etc. It's all history channel". Forget about batting averages and ERASs...errors and lack of piling up the HRs. This game and others are the ones we will all remember. The time is now. Focus on the present. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Just go play baseball. Focus like you did against that gritty Dunedin bunch from Florida. Kyle, you were clocked @ 81 MPH all night long! All of you were laser focused. Let's see that same look tonight. Go EXECUTE!

Randy Morris -- you are a CLASS act. From what we've seen on TV this week -- and I'm sure it's the norm -- you have been so encouraging and supportive of the boys on this team. You are the kind of sports mentor and inspiration all coaches/managers should aspire to be. These boys will always be winners because of the fine example you have set for them. (And the fact that you're a UGA fan makes it all the better -- must have been exciting when Coach Richt called you!) We (fans and teams alike) don't have to trash anyone or anything else -- just focus on the good stuff and 'rise above' all the rest! We love you guys and will be tuned in to watch you WIN on Thursday.

K.C rock your hat anyway you want! There just hating because you are a tremendous athlete with style and character. Josh you are a without a doubt one of the best hitters in this tournament so keep your head up and get um Thursday. Matthew K. You are a real team player and a perfect definition of sportsmanship. I have talked to and interviewed Kyle Carter several times for our newspaper. I asked him about the hat and he told me that ever since he was 3, when he first put on a ball cap, that he has always worn it slightly tilted. It became such a habit growing up that it turned into a superstition for him. He also told me that his other superstition is to wear a pin of a cross inside his hat. Inscribed on the pin are the words, "Watch over this player." Baseball players and other athletes can be very superstitious, and these are two of his, according to Kyle.

Seeing you guys with your incredible sportsmanship and attitudes makes me proud to just be a baseball Mom. You guys just hang in there and show those Yankees what respect is! Randy and Richard, way to keep your cool. The Illinois coach is an absolute disgrace to Little League! Obviously he didn't expect to win from his post game antics. Your team will prevail! You guys are true champions. I thought it was a masterful coaching job on your last visit to the mound. Everyone assumed that you were pulling Kyle Rovig and you went out and reminded the kid to stay calm and gave him encouragement. When we start hitting like we know how on Thursday, everyone better watch out! You guys are great.Illinois is done!

Ok the Great lakes coach wants to talk about respect, well what about that stupid little dance he did right after he shook Coach Randy's hand last nite. that was rediculous, well all he did was throw fuel into the fire!!! And he thinks Ferry is the best ball player in this tournament let's see what KC has to say about that if we get the rematch!! they might have won the Battle, But were Winin the WAR!!! Go SOUTHEAST!!!!!!!!!!

Paige Bentley (Columbus, Georgia)Posted 08/23/2006 @ 10:10:05

Stay positive. You've encountered 17 teams along your journey that have tasted defeat at your hands and are no longer playing. You get to play more baseball tomorrow. Never forget the bad taste but let that motivate you to desire even more the sweet taste of victory. Stay focused. Stay aggressive. Stay poised. And while you're at it, have FUN! Remember what Jason Varitek told Erin Andrews. This is the most fun baseball will ever be for you.

Another Northern FAN (Colorado)Posted 08/23/2006 @ 09:11:32
It's seems as though the Illinois coach lack of respect for Little League Ball players has affected more than just me. Maybe he needs to talk to Dontrelle Willis about respecting the game of baseball. You guys are doing a great job and I know that everyone of you respect the game of baseball. So go out there and teach that Illinois coach the true definition of RESPECT!

Chris Hopkins (Columbus)Posted 08/23/2006 @ 09:09:54
Kyle Rovig, great game last night. Cameron was glued to the TV watching you. No need to get upset over that one. You pitched great. Unfortunately, you all may not face Illinois again. But if you do, take 'em down. Good luck and have fun on your day off!(after practice of course!)

Denny Gentry (Phenix City, Alabama)Posted 08/23/2006 @ 09:05:27

Thanks Coach Randy for not disrespecting the game by running down the other team in front of the whole country when you knew you had an open microphone. Thank you that when you won the last seventeen games in a row that you spared us the victory dance at home plate. Save that for the World Championship game. Thanks for having enough confidence in your team's abilities that you didn't feel the need to try to get in the heads of the other team's players by appointing yourself the fashion police. Thanks for being a class-act. We love the way you're running the team. Put this one behind you and win the rest.

I love to watch this baseball team on TV. I found this team to be great. They are hard working and have been very exciting to watch. My favorite player is Ryan Lang. In the game against NY he did everything got a walk, a hit, scored the winning run winning run and got the last, and even told the Catcher some smack talk. Even though the NY Catcher gave him a hard time he scored the winning run and he had the last laugh. This is an AWESOME TEAM!

Guys it was great being with you this weekend! Enjoy your day off but keep your eye on the goal. Don't let anything distract you from accomplishing your mission. Encourage each other at all times and rise above any adversity you encounter. From this point forward, it's going to take everything you've got so make sure that's what you leave on the field every game. To say we are proud of you does not begin to express our feelings. We love every one of you and pray God's richest blessings on you as you compete in this tournament and, more importantly, as you grow to be all HE wants you to be.

Lori (Cataula, GA)Posted 08/21/2006 @ 12:02:31

Great job guys! You impressed everyone at St. Pete, now the rest of the world will be hearing about you! But with fame comes the bull's-eye. They are looking for your weaknesses. Be tough on defense and watch for those "inside pitches" they kept calling strikes that Goetz threw. ESPN TV gives a "view" that you may not appreciate in the dugout. I think you all can do it, but play every game, one game at a time! Good luck Northern!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!! How exciting! We are so proud of our boys from Columbus! Not only because of how well you are playing but because of your composure and good manners! There was an article in today's paper, featuring your host "uncles". They couldn't say enough about how respectful our boys from Columbus are. They compared you to the team from Japan saying that they haven't been hosts to another American team as respectful as our team from Columbus,GA! Kyle, we were so proud of the way you handled yourself during the post game interview with Erin(ESPN)! You were composed and humbled even though you have every right to have "attitude"! You ended your interview with a "Yes, maam" like a true southern gentleman making Columbus look good, once again! We will continue to watch y'all and cheer you on to VICTORY!!!! I am so excited for the team and coaches. Northern has had great all-star teams the past three years and this year shows when you have a great team, you must have great coaches to support the team. I am very happy to see Randy and Richard coach the team. Great coaching can make a world of difference. I give much praise to Randy! Hearing him encourage Cody Walker before he batted showed he was the best man for the job. Keep up the good work Randy and Richard! You have many, many supporters!
