I just wanted to take this last chance to thank coaches Randy and Richard for all that they have done for our boys this summer. I appreciate everything...the many weeks you took off of work...the patience you have shown...the time away from your families...the coaching wisdom that you shared with the boys...the discipline you instilled...the dream that you shared with them...the faith you had in them...and the fact that you were awesome role models for these boys all along the way. Thank you for every sacrifice you made!!! You made us very proud!!! Our family will never forget you!!!

We would like to add our CONGRATULATIONS to the hundreds you've already received for being the 2006 LLWS Champions!
From the final games of the Regional Tournament to the final out against Japan, we watched with pride and pure joy as you showed the nation and the world how to win with courage, grace, character, and skill! We have roots in Columbus, having been raised there and we still have family and friends there. Tony Pierce is my brother and Little Tony is my nephew. What a thrill to hear Kyle and J.T. name Tony Pierce, Jr. as their favorite player! And seeing Tony and Root at the LLWS games was a thrill for me, too. We had all our friends here in Kentucky pulling for you and they congratulate you, as well. God bless you and your families!

Congrats to you guys, You really deserved this and being the best LL team in the world, what a feeling!?

Also a good well deserved job to Kyle Carter and his 2 Homers and 6 RBI to go on with his 4-0 Record. You'll Go Far Buddy. Josh Lester. great job knocking in all those runs. Cody Walker had an amazing shot with the 2 run homer. good job. JT Phillips, i have to say you did really well against Beaverton and it was a well deserved win.

But they couldnt have done it without everyone else. Good Job Northern.

Even though i am canadian. i give much respect to you guys way more than canadian teams in my league, where we have to face people who are #3 in canada, but i play AAA which is higher than LL and more challenging but you guys are one tough team to beat. Keep on Rolling

Pop Quiz: It's the last inning, 1 out, tying run on 2nd, winning run on 1st. Baserunners and everyone in their dugout are crying. What do you do?
A) Get too emotional with them and loose focus
B) Give up a big hit to tie or loose the game
C) Stay focused, rely on your talent and training, and win the biggest game of your life!
Northern chose C, accepted the win with grace, then displayed class and empathy with Japan. Northern, thanks for keeping the title on US soil ( actually it's Georgia Red Clay )

My first taste of Northern LL baseball came during the 2006 Jack Cook Tourney in Columbus…I went to the tourney to cheer for Peach LL’s coach pitch and A-league champions…after a tough loss to the Sally league in coach pitch I decided to venture off to the A-league field to catch the tail end of the Peach LL A-league game…when I arrived the game was over, another tough loss to Chattahoochee County…I asked a fan in the stands who played next? The answer, the Pirates of Northern LL…I immediately sensed a “buzz” in the air…before too long the “chatter” was about Kyle, JT, and Josh…yes, these three were on a regular season team together!…of course they won easily…Kyle led off with a HR and pitched that night…I knew that I witnessed something very special that evening…on my way home I called three of the biggest youth sports fans I knew in Charlotte and tried to explain to them what I just saw…the rest is history! Thanks again for the memories!

We originally posted a comment on your website on Tues. 8/29 @ 8:34 a.m., but felt impelled to post another one today. We want to apologize for not being able to attend the welcome home celebration in your honor last night. We recorded it during the WTVM news broadcast and watched it after we returned home from church. Just know that even though we couldn't be there, our thoughts and prayers were and are with each of you and your families. We hope that last nights festivities have proved to each of you how much you are loved and admired.

You are our HOME TOWN HEROES!!!

Again, welcome home, be safe, and hopefully you'll be able to get back in the swing of an every day "normal" life. We hope to see you all around town sometime.

Take Care,
The George Family

Came across this, this morning and I think it is appropriate for this team..........

"Do not envy the one you admire most, instead, try to make yourself one that can be envied" (Brodie Croyle's caption on MySpace)

I think all of you are the envy of the Nation....not only for winning, but how you won.....with true Southern grace and dignity.

Welcome Home!!!!!!

Congratulations on your LIttle League World Series title. Every one of you played very well, and have inspired us here in Corning. We are a very small town of about 3500 and do not have much chance of making it, so watching someone from fairly close to us win it was great. I would like to speak with some of you through email, coaches and players, if you would like to contact me. My email is roarkja@allegiance.tv. Look forward to hearing from some of you so you can tell me more about your experiences in the LLWS. GOOD JOB COLUMBUS!!!

I have played baseball all my life including little league,jr. high, highschool, college, pro, semipro, and even in the college world series, but I will have to tell all that I have never been more excited than watching the Columbus team win the whole thing.I followed them starting in the state tourn. thru the web sites and on t.v. not missing an inning, on thru the LLWS and felt from the start this team was special along with the coach's. The Columbus teams respect for the game and respect for the other teams was second to none. This was by far better than any college football championship or world series I have ever witnessed. I was swallowed up in the action as much as any none particapant could be. In the end I found myself with a tear just like players. The teams effect on me will be everlasting. I AM BASEBALL.......SMILE

I've never seen Columbus so excited until now. You guys have put us on the map for a loooong time. I love baseball, and I absolutely loved watching you guys play it. I was a little nervous when it came time to play Japan, because I've heard that they are really disciplined in everything they do, but ya'll came through on that too. Congratulations.

All of you did an exceptional job. I have to say my favorite player, though, is Mr. Josh Lester. Always smiling and dedicated to his game. It definitely puts a smile on my face.

Again, congratulations on your win. You make me proud to say I live in Columbus, GA.

Cody, great homer! That was awesome. And to the rest of the guys, you were all great. Great job!! I played five years of baseball and my team never made it to the regions. CHAMPS, You have gotten a lot of attention, and deservedly so. You have earned really this. However, one of the greatest things I have heard about is something that didn't happen on the field and didn't get a lot of attention by the media. I heard about it shortly after it happened and it was later relayed in a news article. There was a wheel chair bound young man in the stands that had watched and befriended the Southeast team. Kyle C. went into the stands, representing the TEAM, and presented an autographed ball to this boy and took time to take a picture with him. This ranks as one of the greatest moments of the week. There is no telling what affect that will have on this young man, but for me it is just one of the many reasons I am proud of each and every member of the WORLD CHAMPIONS ! That act of kindness and the sportsmanship you all displayed is a testament to the parents and coaches.

WAY TO GO CHAMPS!!!!! May God always be in your hearts and in your actions, everyone in the USA is so proud of you…The Japan team was a tough team and each of you did such a wonderful job during the whole series.

I just want to commend the player’s parents for all the support they have given such an AWESOME team, as a team mother I know only to well the sacrifices you endure.

As far as the boys - I was especially touched after the final game when Kyle Carter said "Come on we need to go shake their hands" That for me was mostly likely the most memorial moment of the whole series...Not only Kyle but each of those "young men" are not only talented but have HEARTS worthy of World Champions. I pray that each of them go as far as they can and remember to stay just as grounded as they are right now.

I know a few family members of this team and they have taught the boys well. Parents “Y’ALL HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB RASING SOME WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS.

Watched you guys from the beginning. I knew from the regional games you guys could take the game to a different level. Baseball, to me, is still the national pastime because it is a summer game. I feel that almost all Americans are summer people, that summer is what they think of when they think of their childhood. I think it stirs up an incredible emotion within people. Baseball was made for kids, and they play it the best as shown to me this summer through the NLL team. Thanks for bringing back the memories of the good ole' times. I hope you will appreciate every one of the memories you have created for yourselves and everyone cheering you on the way to your victory!

I rushed home from work Monday to watch the game, and Rock103 played a tribute that brought tears to my eyes. 'WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS' played as we heard the players tell how happy they were to be the US CHAMPS. 'HOME SWEET HOME' played as we heard how much they wanted to bring the World Series Championship home. The words to this song starts with 'YOU KNOW I'M A DREAMER, BUT MY HEARTS OF GOLD...' ~ at the time I didn't realize how perfect that verse was for you guys. 2 hours later my whole house was screaming as your dream came true!! And then....we saw those hearts of gold reach out to Japan with a love and respect that melted a nation of viewers.

HAHA ~ I can still see most of you playing 'wall ball' at the field! Time flies! Thanks for being the champions, and for being a dreamer with a heart of gold. Thanks for bringing the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP to our HOME SWEET HOME. You are hero's to us all. C U WEDNESDAY NIGHT!!

I knew that you would win it all when I saw your first game in Gulfport(first 3 consecutive homers). I am glad you didn't get a chance to beat us, but you represented the strongest region with pride and finese. I am so amazed at the team which had it all - superb pitching and clutch/power hitting. Wow! You did what we couldn't do and I am so happy for you! Unfortunately, my father(who lived in GA) and was pulling for you, died right after the game was postponed Sunday and didn't get to cheer you on Monday afternoon. As a former Little League coach out of District 2 I am very proud of the great job you boy's have done. You showed true sportsmanship throughout the whole series. Asking Japan to take a lap with you guys was very noble of you to do. Now that is what Little League baseball is all about.
My 13 yr. old is now asking us to move to Columbus so that he can play baseball with you guys next spring. I remember traveling with him when he made the all star team. The tears you all shed yesterday made me weepy too. I was so excited to see a Ga team once again represent the SE in Williamsport. It has been 23 yr's now. The only 2 times a Ga team has made it to Williamsport they have won the World series championship each time. I am also ecstatic that Kyle broke a little league world series record for 4 wins. You all did so well, and I only wish we could be there tomorrow to meet you all.

How proud we are of each of you. Yes, the WIN was AWESOME, but the biggest WIN of all was the CLASS each of you showed throughout the series. You demostrated the true meaning of winning.
Each of you being so blessed by God with your talent, yet keeping the gifts He has so given in balance with your demostration of sportsmanship and humility makes you even BIGGER WINNERS. The stories of reaching out to others and including them with you along this journey! WOW, what a blessing you have given to others & in return you too were blessed. I believe the young men of Japan would agree, they may have lost in that game, but in the game of life they won friendships and experienced Americans at their best.
May each of you always bring glory to the ONE above whom has given you your gifts/talents. May God continue to keep you, bless you, and use you in a mighty way!!
You made me so proud to be from GA and even prouder to be an American. To true champions on & off the field!

Great job Randy and Richard, no one can thank you enough for your commitment to the young men that can proudly call themselves Little League World Series Champions. The way you represented the true spirit of the sport is a great example for coaches and fans to follow.

Beating the International Champions may have brought home the Championship.
But the way all of you handled yourselves on and off the field is what defined all of you as Champions.

You may never know what impact you've had on everyone that watched you on your journey. But one thing you will always know that we are all Very Proud of You.

After watching my 11 yr old son, who plays in Pony/Dizzy Dean, win a Major League Championship with an 0.62 era, and pitch a 1 hitter in District, I thought we were finished with youth baseball for the summer. Then I tuned into watch Northern. I dont remember which game it was but I saw Kyle punchout a batter with 3 consecutive 81 MPH pitches. I WAS HOOKED. To me, watching Kyle pitch is like a work of art. He rarely uses the same sequence of pitches ( credit whoever calls the pitch ). Whether he puts the fastball on their hands inside, nails the outside corner, or puts it high in the zone, they cant hit it. Even more impressive is when he follows 1 of those pitches, with the EXACT SAME ARM MOTION, with a change up that just keeps sinking, I almost feel sorry for the batter. Almost. This team shows YEARS of being coached up so they execute on auto pilot. That enables them to win the mental part of the game. Superior team, Superior Coaching = World Champs.
Thanks again for the ride!

Add in the media, thousands of people watching in person and you really must tip your cap to these special 12 and 13 year olds.

The sportsmanship shown was equal to the play on the field. You not only did your organization, state, and Little League Baseball proud. You did our country proud.

Kyle, your talent is ridiculously incredible! But what really set you apart from the field is the way you showed leadership and character on the world stage!! Richard, I know you are extremely proud as a father.

My congratulations to one and all, from the players to the coaches. You played some of the best baseball I have seen. Your attitude and sportsmanship throughout the pool play and championship series was above reproach. Inviting the Beaverton and Japan teams to take that victory lap with you was something special. It was even a greater thrill for me in that I coached one of the players dad's in lettle league many years ago. That dad was Tim Hollis father of Matthew Hollis. It was a joy to see the level of play passed down from Dad to son. All of the players were well coached and that is a tribute to coach Carter and Manager Randy Morris. You guys deserve the World Championship. My hats are also off to the parents as they are the behind scene volunteers that make this happen. Thanks to ALL parents for supporting the boys, coaches for volunteering their time, and the boys for listening and learning, and most of all for making COLUMBUS Proud!!!! GREAT JOB TO ALL!!!!

Kevin and Nolan Toovey (Granville, IL)Posted 08/29/2006 @ 00:35:55
My son Nolan and I attended our first LLWS this year and and what a great experience it was for us as spectators. We were fortunate enough to have the Illinois State Champions from Lemont advance so it was an extra treat to be able to cheer for our home state. It was also very enjoyable to be able to talk to some of the players throughout the week, even for just a short 3 to 4 minute chat. I had such a moment when I was waiting in line for a line-up card and Ryan Lang walked up. We had just a brief conversation about the Tuesday nite game forthcoming against Illinois. I wished him luck and told him that his team looked very good together both during infield and how they played the game. I also listened to him as he spoke to a little league employee about a possible pin trade. Ryan was extremely polite and respectful. If he is any indicator to the make-up of the rest of the team, well congratulations to all the parents and coaches for a job well done. AND CONGRATS TO THE PLAYERS

Your parents and coaches are so proud of you as we all are.

We are so proud of all of you. The whole team worked so hard to become Little League World Champions! As proud as I am of the players, I am equally if not more proud of the coaches and manager. Randy and the other coaches displayed great control, compassion, and heart throughout the tournament. There were so many times that the coaches on the other teams acted out in a way that was so unbecoming. You always displayed a great attitude and didn't blame others for your shortcomings. I am proud to say that you all are from Columbus. Mom's and Dad's of the players...Congratulations! Your boys are champions on and off the field. Their attitudes and behavior in front of the world was fantastic and true of southern gentlemen.

one thing guys: YALL ARE OFFiCiALLY THE BEST LiTTLE LEAGUE TEAM iN THE WORLD!!!!! yall played so amazing. yall are heroes, not because yall went all the way and because youre the best ll team in the world; but becasue yall did it with grace and class and were humble about it the whole time. just seeing the crushed faces of those Japenese boys was heart breaking, but KC you were great and you went over and hugged them all. that makes you a hero. all of yall are heroes to everyone in america that has ever watched a baseball game. yall have definately captured the hearts of everyone watching. yall played your hearts out, and got what you went up there to get. your dreams have come true, and i doubt that there could be anyone in the world happier than yall right now or that anything could change that for a while. yall have memroies that will never escape your minds and that you will cherish forever. yall have made more tears fall than you would belive. we love you guys and are so proud.

I just watched the championship game and I wanted to let you all know how impressed I was by your team. The win was great, but their attitude and compassion toward the losing team was very impressive. They celebrated their win for a few moments and then immediately went to the other team to shake hands. They didn't just shake their hands though, they patted them on the back, gave hugs and offered encouraging words to the losing pitcher. The parents of these fine young men should be very proud of the kind of kids they are raising. I only hope my two young boys behave in the same kind and caring manner as your players. Congrats on being world champs and on being world class people!!

I just wanted to let you know how proud of all of you I am, as a mother of ball players. We had the privilege of watching your team warm up to play in the district 8 tournament, as we played in a b-ball tournament at Northern. You had atleast 2 people on the other side of the fence to catch your *warm up* balls. I have been glued to the tv each and every game you have played in since you left Columbus. All of you should hold your head high and be proud of not only the players you have become but the fine young men you have demonstrated throughout this series. Way to go to the coaches for teaching these boys not only how to play the game but the compassion for the other teams who didn't win. Congratulations on being USA Champs!!!

I am so proud of all you! I hope to see you win it all tonight, but whether you win this game tonight or not, you all walk away winners. You have accomplished so much as a team. Your sportsmanship on the field is something to be proud of. You took time to think of the Oregon team the other night and invited them to run around the field with you. That was truly awesome. I have really gotten a kick out of watching an old high school classmate's (Beth Norsworthy) son, Josh Lester. What talent and ability you all have as a team. I know your families are so proud of you. What a great lifetime memory for you all! My husband, John Cooksey, and I are former Northern Little Leaguers. The team will travel down Veterans Parkway- beginning at 5:30 from Williams Rd (by the welcome Center) down to the Civic Center. We are hopeful people will turn out to line the road and wave to the team welcoming them home. The team will be honored & recognized by a variety of public & city leaders then will be able to sign autographs. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony at the Civic Center.
